I will be visiting my son's family beginning June 2. There will be some free time and I wondered if any "Uglies" out there may be in the same neighborhood. I would love to "meetup" with you. I will be leaving on the 23rd. There is a train in my son's village that goes to K-town. Hope to make a new friend or two! (and work with my new camera)
Going to France would be the bomb!
Watch out , if you go to France you might get stock somewhere they have strikes as a pass time over there .
In any case have a fantastic nice trip and take a lot of pics

C'est la guerre! France: one of the most beautiful countries I know of.
What is K-town? Kaiserslautern?

Heidelberg is about a hours drive from K-town. During the summer they have the burning of the castle a couple times a month, it's a great photo op. Your son should be able to get the schedule. You might consider Belgium it's much closer with friendly people with great photo ops. Have fun and good luck.

That's my home town, born there 68 yrs ago, have been there many times, have son go to local ITT office and take some of the cheap tours, or drive to surrounding areas, Rhine river trip worthwhile, wine tours etc. lots of things to do, last lived there in 1985 for 5 yrs.
k town I was stationed there while in the Army.. Kaiserslarten
I was also stationed in Kaiserlautern in 1967. As I recall there were neat old buldings downtown. I remember one restaurant--" The Spinradel. It was in a twisted old bldg, circa 1525.
That Spinradel was still there in the late 80s. I remember in the 50s my mother would clean houses for GIs and I got to play with their kids, 30 yrs I was stationed there as a GI
jvo
Loc: left coast of the east coast
lived in heidelberg - great town..... also go to rothenberg - an old walled city.
both great picture making opportunities
I was stationed in Zweibrucken, a hop, skip and jump from Ktown. I traveled over much of the area for photo ops. Heidleburg is a great area. If you have time go up to Luxembourg, probably the cleanest, prettiest area in Europe. On the flip side France is the dirtiest country I've been in (that includes Mexico).

I thought it was bad enough when we were called "Hogs." Now we're "Uglies"?! :D
Maybe that's why some members don't post their pictures in their avatars. :D
