Amazing resource on lighting: Strobist 101.
this is one amazing course on how to light things for photography.
There are examples, assignments, and lots of good info.
If you have been shying away from using "off camera flash" then check it out...you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
Also, the site is all about doing it for "cheap" so there are a lot of good recommendations for flashes, unbrellas, stands and such for cheap.
You can improve the look of your photos and not break the bank.
http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.htmlHere is a dumb little example; I hung this leaf from my kitchen table light on a hanger with a clamp.
Then used a technique of flashing behind the leaf and using an aperture ISO shutter speed that removed the kitchen lights...this was shot in a fully lit up room...it wasn't dark.
Great shot and a very informative website......thanx for the link.
