If I buy and install NIK software will it still be viable after LR updates?

It belongs to Google now. Why would it not be updated when necessary?
I have NIK and I love it. I would think that Google will continue to keep it current. Nothing is ever for certain but NIK is an excellent program. Good luck.

I have upgraded my LR since version 2. I currently am using the photographer program(on Mac) on the Creative Cloud which updates my LR and PS regularly. I also have the NIK Complete Collection and Hdr programs. Never an issue using the plugins through all updates. Certainly, I've experienced the disappointment of Google discontinuing support for Snapseed for Mac, but I have faith that I won't lose my workflow due to upgrades by Adobe and/or Google.
Nik Analog Efex Pro was released under the auspices of Google so things are being being worked on.

I too felt some trepidation when Google bought Nik Software.
But then Google offered current users of at least one Nik application the "Nik Collection" (all Nik applications) for free.
Others could buy the Google Nik Collection for the bargain price of $149.
For several years now, I've been using the Nik Silver Efex Pro black-and-white software. I understand most experienced digital photographers prefer SEP (now SEP2). This software offers maximal control over a color photograph to convert it to black-and-white.
I've also begun using Color Efex Pro to enhance my color photographs. Its Tonal Contrast selection produces a contrast visually pleasing to the eye. The Detail Extractor selection produces an interesting sharpening effect.
I can recommend the Google Nik Collection.

I too use Nik Silver Efex Pro for all of my B&W conversions and am a big fan of Tonal Contrast, it can be subtle, it can be dramatic.

Bren, I believe that it will be updated. It is an excellent suite of plugins. I also have the Topaz suite and I do find myself using Topaz more than NIK. Try the 15-day trail
Thanks everyone! You have sufficiently removed the fear of software becoming obsolete too soon to justify the purchase. I'm going to give it a try.
