We have seen many new photographers asking for advice about which camera is the best to buy. We have also heard many complain about the fact that some clients do not understand the value a good photographer provides. Here is a story for all of you:
A famous photographer was invited by a rich lady to show his portfolio so she could decide whetehr to hire him for her daughters wedding. He went to her mansion with his beautiful photographs, some albums and some large enlargements to really impress her. She was thoroughly impressed and said Wow, these are some excellent photographs. You must have a good camera. He did not say anything.
She insisted that the photographer stay for lunch and meet her daughter. After a fabulous meal served by her servants, it was time to leave. He picked up and loaded his stuff in the car and came back in to thank her and said thank you very much for a lovely dinner. The food was just superb. You must have some excellent cookware!

An interesting story. I hadn't read it until today, but it makes a point. Several decades ago Henri Cartier Bresson (we older people will know the name) a famous street photographer from France did an assignment with a Kodak box camera to demonstrate that it was knowledge more than equipment that gets the job done. He did this in response to claims that he had an edge because he shot with Leicas. Leica is a great piece of equipment, but I think he made his point.

Why would you waste your time responding to it? You could ask the same question of me but it bothers me that people take their time to make a point which is no point at all. Some people may have heard but others have not (me, for example). Does it make you feel more superior to state your case that you've heard it before and we must be a bunch of idiots because we haven't? By replying with no point at all, you've offended the OP, you've wasted your time and you've not only wasted my time by making me read your pointless reply but you've irritated the heck out of me. Read it and MOVE ON if you've already heard it.

You CAN read...right? Let me put it a different way...I'm hoping that the next time you feel the need to offend someone else's post, you'll MOVE ON instead. Feel free to keep replying...I'm done.
I have never heard it before and I thank "Camerman" for his post. I am new to this site. I was surprised a rude reply.I thought anyone was welcomed to comment freely here.

Cameraman: I am sure I am not as good as the man in the story, but the tale rings true. I have had many people compliment the quality of my equipment, even if all they saw was the results. I would like to think that I had at least a little bit to do with those results. After all, if I messed up a shoot, no one would want to hear about how it was the camera's fault.
Good cameras make anyone a better photographer. Bad photographers would not get great results from the best equipment. The greatest asset of a photographer is his ability to see, frame, light, and capture an image.
Someone just complimented a photo I had posted online and added .."That's what you get with a $5000.00 camera and lens"...He knows I had some nice equipment..I told him the photo was shot with a simple point and shoot..I was just in the right spot at the right time..and I have been taking pictures since I was ten years old .now 67..Good or bad it has been the number one passion in my life. I love to see everyone's work..no matter what the level of skill..It is their love of the art.

Since I don't have time to read everything on the site...I'm glad it was posted again because I hadn't seen before... I'm a disaster in the kitchen but I've got great gadgets.
