I think adding 15% more reach is not going to make a big difference in your photographs, and only one of the TCs are needed. Cropping your D800 images will easily make up the difference. How would you even decide which one you'll use? They're more of a pain to swap than lenses.

But you've already made up your mind and ordered it (again), so enjoy! :-D

I thank you, for your Imput, and you know, your right!!
I just might return theTC-20E 1112X tele, and just adjust my photo"s that I shoot with my D800 with a greater crop factor
thanks, for your advice!

It's all part of the G.A.S. Support Group: there's no point stopping anyone from spending money, but it usually makes sense to be efficient about it! :-D

Next time you're about to order something, maybe try waiting 24 hrs, post here saying what you're thinking of getting, then see the input and decide what you want to do. If you decide your original plan still makes sense, then nothing is lost and you can feel more confident about it. But if you consider an alternative plan, you know you are making a better decision. :-)

Your absolutley correct.........I guess I thought if the 1.7 tele did such a good job, then the 2X would be way better, but your correct about the crop factor of the D800, which allows way more of a crop, then some other cameras, here is a foto, that I took, last sunday mid day, of the moon, useing my Nikon 70-200 VR 2.8 lens and my Nikon TC-17E 11 Teleextender with a very slight crop, I made a 13X20 print of this photo,on my Epson printer for a friend of mine, and it truly came out very nice....

I have the TC-20E III and I use it only on my 70-200 f/2.8 and it works quite well. I am happy with it.

With the blood moon last week, I stayed in because I didn't know how I would take a picture that wasn't the same as everyone else's. I like your daytime shot, that is different!

I don't at the moment. I am not happy with my composition so I usually delete and format my cards after a shoot. Also I don't like to post photographs outside of some I post on Facebook for my friends. Most people here will tell you "great shot", when, in reality it isn't. When I post here it will probably be in the Critique and Analysis forum where they will be more critical. I want to be really good in photography so I tend to be my worst critic.

Okay, David, my feeling is that you should enjoy photography, and not worry about the consequences, I"ve been into photography for 60 years, I got my first camera when I was 8 years old( which Incidently I still Own) , and I"ve owned various Nikon cameras and lenses since 1970
I"ve won awards and acolades, from various names you would quickly recognize, however, I chose to enjoy my photography
and truly am pleased when someone compliments my work or in my case my lifes pleasure........ease up, on yourself!!
