Do you miss pushing Tri-X to 1200, "bulk film," -developing roll after roll/shading with Beseler 23C-II/filters in a darkroom, mixing chemicals, trays/print dryers, sinks?

If so, I have a bridge for sale - made in Brooklyn, and a Tandy computer that uses 5" floppy disks! State-of-the-art.

(I do miss that stuff - but not a lot.)

Actually, YES, I DO miss it. But certainly not enough to go back to it :)
I've got quite a similar collection of 'oldies & goodies' stored away, but very few are interested in any of it. I tried to sell a $600.00 Bessler enlarger for $200.00 and never got a nibble. They are good though, for those periods when a person likes to sit and stare at it all, just thinking back to those days, eh? Good Luck.

I've got an old Olympus OM 1 and OM 1-N and several lenses from wide to long. As I look at it now I realize how tiny they are compared to my new electronic Nikons. I got some noteworthy Kodachrome 64 slides with the old equipment. What I still remember with great frustration is B&W processing and the near impossibility to get any lab to print what I had in mind. They just produced flat gray prints. Finally I made friends with a professional and watched him in his lab as he produced exactly what I wanted. But I can tell you that I greeted with open arms my new electronic camera with Photoshop, which gives me just what I want in less than an hour. I had fun in the olden days but I have a hell of a lot more now.

The sad thing is the old Nikon F will still be around and in working shape long after the DSLR has bit the dust. I have a mint Minolta for sale. Anyone? Anyone? ;-)

I don't miss it. I only developed film, and printed pictures, in photo classes. My current photo teacher gave the local Jr. College all his darkroom equip. when he went to digital, taught some classes, and now they never get used. He said he might teach a class on film again and I would be the first to sign up. Then I'll have to hit up Photog8 for his Minolta. I could drag out the old Pentax K1000. That'd be fun.

I donated my complete darkroom to a local private school for their photography program. They gave me a for value document that I was able to deduct from taxes and also told me I was welcome to come use their lab and equipment any time. I considered this win-win for all involved.

It would be fun to teach kids how to load 2 rolls of Tri-X on one SS reel, back to back, like we did when we had to process volumes of film in rush times using deep tanks.

It has to do with your seeing your inane comments in print, an obvious stroke to your ego. Do you ever add anything positive to a thread, or are you so miserable that you actively attempt to create commiseration? I do hope you live alone; I shudder at the thought of anyone being forced to share such banality.

No, you're right, it isn't a positive post. I'm sorry. Good sense and good manners gave way to frustrating comments from an oft-too-present pest.

No, that was 'London Bridge'.
It was dismantled and (partially) reconstructed in Lake Havasu, AZ.
Now that I'm a 'full time' photographer (I just retired from my civil service job), I'll finally have time to go up there and make some images of it.
