This past weekend, I visited the monthly Long Beach Flea Market, specifically to take macro-photographs and close-up photos of trinkets, geegaws, and baubles. I was not disappointed.
Hand-held D5200 at ISO 200, with 105G macro lens, 1/200-sec at f/16, Nikon SB-600 speedlight with FotoDiox 6x8-inch softbox diffuser.

These fascinate me. Each has so much detail and visual eye candy. I love the watch faces, the buttons are cool and the inlaid glass is beautiful, making me want even more. I think I love "stuff".

Consider visiting your local flea market, with close-up photography in mind. A macro lens is
not required. Most short kit lenses will handle a subject 18-inches away, or so. a little diffusion of camera flash, or a speedlight will provide more pleasing illumination. When asked, every vendor allowed me to set drawer or box on ground, so I could shoot straight down.

Thanks. Good to know. Did you feel obligated to purchase anything?

Nope. Every vendor was pleased to see the photos I captured of their wares. I chatted with vendors during the five to ten minutes during set-up and photography. It was fun to learn about history of each item.
Sounds like a win-win. Its all good.

Excellent set, Douglass. I love the fine detail, especially in the watches. I didn't notice any Rolex, though, lol.
I missed loading these earlier.
These images are much better than the other set in another thread. These show what I expect of you when using flash. So now I wondering if you meant post some of the other images.
Thanks for these excellent and very interesting photos and a great idea, Douglass!
