Some folk think that the desert is dull and monotonous, lacking in seasonal variety. Nothing could be further from the truth. Very distinct seasonal differences. Would be interested in seeing others images that dispel popular myths about where they live. Perhaps golf in Dubai, flowers in Nome, snow in The Bahamas, (I have seen it) a beach in Chicago, art in Buffalo, rodeo in Hawaii, cattle in Seattle....The sort of thing that challenges our preconceived notions. Makes us think. Might be fun.

Spring. Blooming Joshua tree. (Every three of four years if lucky)

Summer. After the rain.

Winter. Yep sometimes snows in my garden.

Autumn. New England? No. Desert colors.

These are beautiful. I especially love the 1st one. I'm going to post a few of mine but I have to decide which ones first :-)

I can't post it here because of copyrights but I just saw a city in fog photo (think San Francisco) on the National Geographic web site the other day. The unusual thing about it? It was Dubai-middle of the desert and the visibility at ground level of the fog was obviously only a couple of hundred feet.

Fog isn't something that one expects in the desert but I can remember when I was a Forecaster at Fallon NV (high desert) having come into work with the typical clear skies and dry ground, and being back in the office where I couldn't see outside when my weather observer came in and said "a pilot wants to know when the fog is going to clear." "Fog? What fog?" Was my response. It had gone from clear and dry to 100' visibility in fog in less than a half hour. Oh, yeah and the humidity was only 50%; fog is supposed to be impossible when the air is that dry. Things like are why I sometimes think "weather guesser" may be more accurate than "weather forecaster."

beautiful colors, I alway try not to have misconceptions about other areas, So many people think New Orleans is still under water .

The only White Christmas (2004) the town of Bayou Vista TX ever had. I know the photo is soft but it was very low light and then I had to go to work. I didn't get a chance to play or photograph much. Opportunity always knock at the least opportune moment.

Sounds like fun.. The first two are from central Eastern Oregon in the Owyhee River basin.. The third from Steens Mt. (9,000 ft,) in the Southeastern corner of the state.. Note no rainforest, but the high desert instead..
