Hi everyone. Happy Easter

I am classed as a professional Equine photographer and sell a lot of my work..... I Someone mentioned signatures on images I just wanted to know what other people do or think please.
Do you put a small mark or inconspicuous logo or initial on all your sold images or do you sell without.

I use initials, whether my work is being uploaded on UHH, exhibited or sold CS goes normally bottom right

Sometimes I play a little more and work the text then put it as Creativ S

My dad was a professional photographer for 40 years. He signed every print he finished, just like an artist who signs his paintings.
I would say, if you are proud of it, sign it. If not, don't let it see the light of day.
I am an amateur, but if I finish and post or print a photo, it is signed.

I try to make my signature blend in with the background wherever I place my signature by using different colors, sizes, and even styles of fonts. If someone is interested, they will find it, just like in a painting, which of course is what we are doing, light painting!

If a client purchases a print the watermark / signature get removed. I do have all that information printed on the back of the print.

Kellie...........nice photos on the slideshow. However, I noticed an error on your home page...........take the apostrophe off clinic and rally. I don't think the "apostrophe-s" is correct in this instance.

My favorite was the dapple gray with the rider in the turquoise shirt. Also just the head shot of the black horse; that one looks like a real firecracker.

It is such a nice website and that one thing detracts from its professionalism.

Hello...
I agree with what "stsimmer" and "DougS" wrote here.

The On-Line photographs that I post Have my © on them and I have written my name LARGE but have taken down the luminosity so the viewer On-Line will know that This IS a Copyrighted image "sample" of the True Print.

On the Print (8X10 and up to 40X60) I have my Signature on them in the lower right corner of the print - as well as my business card on the back of the print and or frame.

If I am NOT proud of the image... It does Not make it to the Printer.

I would have to say you should but a mark of some kind on the photo. I am just getting started with my photos but have worked in a photo lab for a number of years. From what i have seen if you don't have a mark most places will just do copy's of any thing and you will lose money. the hole reason for the mark is to show others that is your image. as the person has bought the pic you still own the image. protect what you have done, don't get screwed by the system so to speak.

First I love your web site as I also do equine events. I would never let a photo be sold without my signature on it.
At every event I do there must be 30 other cameras going be it I-pad or phone. I want people to know that a professional was there also and my work is worthy of purchasing.

Hi Magic:

When I was doing horse photography in the 1980s, I saw many photos in horse magazines with the photographers signature right between the horse's legs (for a standing shot) and signatures in places close the the horse's body where one could not crop out the signature. I guess they did not want anyone to crop out their name and rip off the photo. I am not sure what is happening today. Perhaps you could look at some horse magazines and see where the signature appears. Hope this helps and good luck with your career!
