Bring Slaves to a Wedding?

I watched several hours of speed light instruction online today, and the presenter made a good point. He avoids using the word "slave" when referring to wireless flashes. As he said, when he's at a weddings, or shooting out in public, he doesn't want to shout to someone "get some more slaves;" "bring a slave over here;" "this slave isn't working. "

Although serious photographers understand the standard terminology, he said it can cause awkward situations, so he uses the term "wireless."

Between shooting kids and working we slaves, we could get a bad reputation. :D

I watched it too Jerry. It was pretty good. Didn't catch all of it though. I liked the Wedding/Slave remarks too. Too bad people can't talk without worrying about offending someone.

Two days, seven hours a day? No, I didn't, but I did watch bits and pieces. It was repeated immediately after it ended, and it will probably run again for free. I thought about buying it, but then I stopped thinking. I save a lot of money that way.

Yes, me too. 80 bucks is a bit steep. I figured the $80. will end up as G.A.S. anyway.

I think the guy was just trying to make a point that he is 'ever so considerate'. Like really, does he really think this is a consideration. This sounds like that 'do i raise my hands to god' conversation going on in the next room here.

I tried to photograph Appomattox yesterday. In four years, about 3/4 million Americans died. Grant and Lee came here to end the killing. The fighting may not have stopped.

I tried hard to capture the overwhelming feelings that hit me yesterday about all the issues involved that lead to this.

This is my best shot.

Did you mean to post this to another thread. Trying to see the connection to 'slaves'.

I deleted it. It was a photo of where some people that died fighting over slavery were buried. I should know better than post anything other than pretty birds on UHH.

There are so many things that are relatively inexpensive,m but they can all add up quickly, and the value often isn't there. That's why I always get the free versions of apps and little utility programs. I've been burned too many times with the "better" paid version.

Oh, I dod not know, that is the six degrees of seperation. I hear you on the birds. I never look at them. when I click on an interesting title and don't think it's a bird and a bird comes up I get upset.

Do you use the slaves to shoot the kids?
