Bible-and-God Questions

Does God or His Spirit occupy physical space?

When God created the "heavens and earth" did the "heavens" part-of "heavens-and-earth" include the heaven that we go to after death? Or did the heaven that we go after death exist before the creation of the "heavens and earth" and before the creation of man according to Genesis?

Where is heaven? Jesus arose 3 days after death, but did he actually go "up" into the "heavens" or is that just a figure of speech, or is it known? Those in my wife's church (Lutheran) stand and raise their hands and arms and turn their faces toward the ceiling on Easter Sunday and proclaim "he is risen; he is risen indeed."

Where does God reside. Is God-Heaven a duality or is God-Heaven a single inseparable thing? Where was God before he created the heavens and earth (universe)? Was God in a separate universe before he created our universe? If so, then is it reasonable to assume that there are at least two universes, today? That would fit the parallel-universe theory.

Many questions I know. Your response to any one or all is appreciated. I am curious. Happy Easter. Thanks.

"Look to science for the how... look to religion for the why"

when people use the Bible to explain how the world works... GOD's ears hurt!

Good questions! Nothing wrong with asking questions about God. He wants us to know as much about Him as we can.

I'm by no means a theologically trained person, but I'm glad for those who have done a lot of study and can help others learn more about what God says in the Bible.

However, I'm glad I can be a "doorkeeper" for God (Psalm 84:10). As a doorkeeper, I can at least point people in the right direction, and pray that they will find the truth they are seeking.

Since I'm obviously disabled and don't walk very fast, I give out business cards humorously declaring myself to be a "Speedwalking Champion." After they stop laughing, this card invites people to visit a website that I created to help others find out more about God:

http://www.speedywilson.info/

I encourage everyone to visit the website. I pray visitors will find some helpful information there that will bring them closer to God.

Good post!

James, I like your new avatar.

As to your questions, I've ticked off enough ppl today so my only answer to the questions that rock this forum is, "Who cares."

God is a Spirit. He does not have a corporeal body. The Bible teaches us that he is Omnipresent....that is, there is no place that He is not. As far as Jesus goes, He was both God and Man. While it is impossible for God to die, the human body of Jesus did. On the third day, He rose from the dead, and after walking with His followers for 40 days He ascended. Now, how you get to Heaven I can't tell you. I don't have the map. However, Revelation also tells us that Jesus will descend from the heavens prior to the Battle of Armageddon.

Have a Good Friday!!

If you visit my website, be sure to click the box "An Unusual Video Message." There you will find the answer to the question "Why did God allow this person to be born without arms or legs?"

I've been studying this a little bit.

Our existence (space, matter, energy, time) came into being appx. 13.8 billion years ago from a point (a singularity).
God had to exist outside of that singularity.

When God created our time he limited it to linear, one dimension. I believe time outside our universe is 2 or more dimensions.

ALL we can know (except God) is within the universe we live in. I believe our universe is like a fish bowl. The fish within it can know nothing outside of their universe.

Well, OK, I assume others will respond in kind the way you did, but I do care. I have a curious mind and enjoy learning how others perceive things regarding the Bible and the Supernatural. That ppl can wear one out. Thanks anyway.

Anyone claiming to have the answer to this is an idiot. No one knows or cares. What difference will it make?

Gee, I like what you say. You are up to date on the age of our Universe after the Big Bang, no longer is it 13.7 but now 13.8 bya.

I appreciate your comments. And you statements made me consider another interesting question, but not for here:

Perhaps God would not have had to be outside of that Singularity. Perhaps he was Singularity, then all of us would for sure be part of his creation and part of him; and the "all powerful" often attributed to him would fit most well.

I am not knowledgeable enough to fathom time being 2 or more dimensions. I shall have to give that one more thought.

Oh, well. Happy Easter, and thanks again for your stimulating comments.

James, today being Good Friday, consider the unimaginable prospect of the Incarnation....God becoming man....not only to reveal His message but also to provide the ultimate sacrifice for sin. Consider what it says about both the Father and the Son to have done this.

I always like your clever responses, and again I love the colors and young lady in your new Avatar.

If I may, Einstein said it another way: "Science deal with what is and Religion deals with what should be."

Happy Easter should it apply. :D
