Swamp Gator Loc: Coastal South Carolina
 
We saw this baby alligator (maybe a foot long) try to catch a small frog but was unsuccessful. However he was so proud of himself to have caught this insect in the swamp. For him it probably was a meal. One day he will use those skills to capture prey much larger then a bug.
But for now he has tiny 'puppy teeth'.

No, never had one get a hold of my fingers. Bet it would hurt more then ya think though. :-o

Another wonderful image from the swamps. Great capture; however, if, as you say, this critter is only about a foot long. . .then you must be using one bodacious (sp?) long lens! :)

I think it was a cicada. It has wings sort of like a dragonfly but a fatter body.
