I don't need a critique on this phot, since it is 40 something years old. I simply need some magic done. It is me sitting on my brother, probably because he was chewing with his mouth open, or he was breathing too loudly. Can anyone brighten it up?
I hope is help I, more can be done to it.
Thanks Dereksavy and bikerbill...I need to send a quick hello to my brother for his birthday and wanted to remind him who is boss:)
I cropped it a bit to get rid of the junk on the left...it is a lot better with your fixes!
I work on the picture some more I hope this helped.
I will try to see what I can do but can't guarantee anything for outcome.
Here is what I came up with. Hope you like it.

This looks sepia almost, right? Thanks!
Changed the pic to B&W and added a colour filter.

I have an old program that can't be found anymore. Microsoft PictureIt 10. I did an auto levels (will automatically adjust levels of colors) then went and decreased brightness by 10 and increased contrast by 10. May be an old program, but I sure like it. I helped a relative try and restore over 2000 old slides a couple of years ago and ended up salvaging about 1500 using the same program so I have a lot of experience with it. Hope this helps.
