I am planning to work as a director of photography on a documentary an old friend is producing in Arizona. What kind of location vehicle should I use: #1 an Airstream av #2 or just ??
I can drive out there or fly (he pay for air fair) and if fly buy the vehicle when I get to Phoenix. I wilI then drive back to my home here in Miami. I am open to any and all suggested plans.

Have you ever made that drive before?
How long do you have to get there?
How long will you be staying, approx?
Where will the location shooting be?Will you be "on site" most of the time?

It may be worth driving it, just to see what's between there and there. May give you ideas on future projects you may want to photograph.
You don't have to drive an airstream out there, and really don't have to drive one all the way home, unless you just want to own one. Maybe you can rent one there.

Depending on how much you will mess up the trailer, you might consider renting one. It will be loads cheaper than buying one. Airstreams are very expensive, even used. I had a 31' 1973 model, and after 25 years, I sold it for more than half of what I paid for it used. Are you talking about a trailer or a motorhome?

It will be much more pleasant flying and renting than buying and driving. Do you have a tow vehicle and hitch? The hitch itself is a huge expense. You'll need a brake controller, too.

Renting a small motorhome is probably your best bet. Airstream doesn't make them anymore, though.

You could always convert an Airstream trailer into a motorhome. That shouldn't be too difficult. :D

y
Flying & renting. Sounds good.
Or a Land Rover?
I have not seen the production schedule to know how long I am going to be on the location shooting vs going to and from the producer's home. Etc.

I'm glad to they're making them again. They've used several manufacturers. M-B is probably not the cheapest available. :D

Lease here in Miami and then drive
I feel it would be cheaper to lease so I can see new locations on the way and take with me the equipment I will need instead of paying for extra bags. and do this round trip leasing the Rv.
Lots of good and bad. the main thing is I control my coming and going.
