Same here Rick. Most communication today is via Cell Phone or Computer. Us locals do help with public service a lot ...

Wow! Had not thought about HAM in a long time. Got my Amateur ticket in '78. WB5TGX. Advanced as far as Advanced ticket. Was mainly into CW till computers ruined it. Still have an old HW 101 and SB 102 in the attic somewheres. Been 25+ years since I've been active.

Got my Advanced back in 2004. KM4EN. After the thrill wore off, my cell phone suffices now. I think that cells, Skype and other stuff like it will probably kill ham radio. Sad.

N1YDX - Not as active as I would like to be. Made DXCC in 6 months as a Novice on CW and the rest was downhill. LOL

I got mine in 1978 KA5EBL and ran on 6, 2 and 432 SSB. Didn't mess with FM or HF.

WOW ! glad to see so many Hams on here. I knew there had to be some from all the nice post/comments I have seen.
I worked CW only for 3 years then dropped it. Got DXCC as a novice, worked contests,Field Day, as many special event stations as I cud find and finally burned myself out. Call is WB3IVX.

You guys really know how to make me feel old. Don't see anyone with a W# or another K# here. 1958 wasn't that far back, was it???? My CW days were with a Heath DX-20 and a Heath AR-3. My last rig was a SB-100, SB-200, and accessories (like the SB-scope and phone patch). Them had tubes in um, you young whipper-snappers.

My biggest thrill, other than working Australia on CW as a novice, was getting WAS (low power) in a single day. It was a marathon contest by ARRL but can't remember what it was called right now. Of course, that was as WA0NTY and I was in Minot, ND. Everyone wanted ND so I just sat there and responded.
