Let me say right off the bat, that these guys weren't cops, but they were border patrol, so they're in the same family. They were totally in the wrong, but their first impulse was to blame the victim.

Here's why I might be getting a dash camera. It's the only thing that saved this driver from serious trouble. I used to live a few miles from this intersection.

A friend of mine had a kid step right in front of them and get knocked down as they were slowing for a light. She said the kid looked right at her as he stepped out into the lane, and the kid's mother was right there. This is another reason to consider a dash-cam.

I see one of these in my future. It's gotten very good reviews. It stores video on a mini SD card and records continuously. When it's full, it records over itself. Of course, you can adjust the recording time to ten minutes or two hours, or whatever you want.

The one thing I don't like is having to run the power cord to a power supply. It comes with a cig lighter plug, but I don't want to tie up the plug with that, so I'll tap into the wire leading to the outlet. When you start the car, the camera starts recording.
