Proof that the perfect waves on the North Shore can be truly irresistible to all walks of life, a pod of Hawaiian humpback whales were recently photographed surfing a second-reef set at Pipeline. J.T. Gray, who shoots for North Shore Surf Photos, and took the amazing image above, had shown up on Saturday to document the late-season swell that had filtered into the North Shore.

I didnt have anything to sit on and with most of my body under the water, it felt a bit freaky, said Cunningham.
