THIS is driving me crazy! I can usually fix my computer, but this time, nothing has worked so far. If it's too simple, no need to kick me, I'll kick myself!
I have NO sound.
In "sounds" in the contol panel, it tells me I have "no audio device".
I have been to "add & remove" and removed a program I downloaded and checked the hardware in sounds (says they are all working, but they are not). I even did a system restore to when I knew it was OK. Nothing works.
Does anyone have any suggestions? (Youtube is just not the same. LOL!)

Sounds to me like your sound card is blown out, techy time.
I might be wrong but I don't think so. I had the same thing happen but I would wait for someone else to chime in.

Are you on a desktop or a laptop? I know the speakers on our desktop have come loose before and had to make sure all of the plug ins were tight and then I got the sound back. If its a laptop it sounds like something internal and I cannot help you there. I can find my way around a computer if needed but I am no techie.

Mine does that now and then but I never turn off the computer only the monitor when I go to bed ... so every now and then I have to do a restart .. that usually fixes it .... maybe you will get lucky and it's something really simple . Good luck

Thats a good idea as well. I know mine starts to act up and do strange things when it goes for awhile without being turned off.

i know this sounds silly but if you have external speakers check the connections, unplug and plug back in. also check if speaker volume is set to 0, or if your volume on your computer is set to 0. if that doesnt work use male repair system #2, hit it on its side while yelling at it. May not work but you'll feel better!!!!!!!!

is your sound part of the mother board or do you have a card like a sound blaster
either way go to device manager. right click on sound and chose uninstall. shut down the machine. If it is a sound card remove the sound card put it in another slot. when you start up, windows will be forced to install the drivers all over again. it worked for me more than once.

Make sure your speakers aren't muted

OUCH ! You are not going to like this

I just went through the same thing. No sound, indicated that I had no internet connection (yet I did), couldn't get into files because it said I needed to be the administrator (I am) etc., etc. Had to reload Windows 7. My files were okay, but the registry was all messed up. Looking back, this happened to me right after a Microsoft update. You might try to delete the latest update(s) and do a system restore to something before the end of last year. Hope for your sake, yours is not as bad as mine was.

I'll see what I can do. Thanks Mikey.

You've tried the 'Add / Remove' a program. . . Have you tried the 'Add New Hardware' function? That may work for you. And, try swapping the existing speakers for a set that you KNOW works - or, try headphones. Good luck

I had a problem like that when I had a PC. It was a wire connection.
