I am sure it is a misprint, but in an email I got from Adorama they clearly show the pre-order price for the new, smaller version of the 18-300mm VR Nikon lens as only $299.95.

I wondered why Adorama was laughing at my order. Seems the real price for that lens is $996.95. Almost made me cry. And I really WANTED to NEED that lens.

Whatever happened to the good old days when you had to eat it if you printed such a mistake. Oh well, we can dream.

Interesting. It says "new version," but no new specs. B&H has the 18-300mm for $996.

What is the lens opening? I bought the 18-300mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens when it first came out. It was 996.95 retail price & it had a $300.00 instant rebate. So I paid 696.95 for the lens. I use it on my D4 camera, which takes both FX or DX lenses. I don't regret buying it for one second. It replaced to of the big lenses Im used to drag around with me. It also gave me some great looking pictures. Can't go wrong by getting this lens at any price although I think the price is a misprint. The only way I can think of a cheaper price is the lens opening is not very big. I believe & correct me if I'm wrong, there is less detail in the pictures.

The offer I got wasn't quite as generous.
