Personally I do not understand posting political topics to a photography forum for why are you here if not for photography, but in the end you may press your agenda if you like. I was just asking.
St3v3M;
As I'm sure you are already aware, this website has a "whole bunch" of photography related forums; some people may like to discuss photography, 24-7, 365; If they do...I'm happy for them, as UHH is a great place to do it!
However, as I'm also sure you must realize, many people like to discuss all sorts of "other topics"; which is exactly why the folks who own this website very wisely decided to create ONE forum, ( General Chit-Chat ), for discussing "everything else".
Now.....I'm also assuming that anyone who has made as many posts as you have, is obviously very aware of all of the great features that the people who designed the software for UHH have provided for the members, in order to "keep track" of the "threads", "topics", or whatever you choose to call them.
I personally check "my topics" several times each day as a rule; as I'm sure you must know, all websites are dependent on advertising revenue; and ALL advertisers (who are paying significant sums for their ads ), are expecting "big numbers" (lots of "views" ) With the diversity of interests and opinions represented by all of the members of this website, I'm sure you can see why it's to the advantage of not only the owners of the website, but also to all of the advertisers, to always keep expanding the membership, and in so doing, to keep adding new members all the time. It isn't possible to do these things with only one forum, or even a half dozen forums.
As I mentioned before, I pay close attention to how many "views" each topic I post receives, and also how many replies that topic gets; some topics get a lot of "views", some topics get a lot of replies, and some get a lot of "both"; that tells me what members are interested in reading.
I can assure you, there is a LOT of "interest" in discussing "politics" (and other things ), and the several hundred thousand "views" that my posts have generated clearly indicates this. (if you have any ideas on how best to "discourage" the radical "secular-progressive-liberals" from calling all of the peaceful, mild-mannered, Conservative "normal people" nasty names and constantly hurling insults, I would LOVE to hear them, BTW! )
When you mention, Quote; "I do not understand posting political topics to a photography forum"; I NEVER post anything (other than photography related posts ) on ANY of the photography related forums; on the single occasion that I DID forget to click on the "Chit-Chat" button, and my topic went to the "General Photography" forum, being unable to delete it myself, I immediately PM'd the Admin, and he moved it to the Chit-Chat forum within just a few minutes. I might add, during those few minutes, several members on the photography forum, (who are apparently "perfect" and never "make mistakes or typos" ), nearly had heart attacks, and called me many "colorful" names.
I think a good way to understand all of this, is to look at, say Wal-Mart; not so terribly long ago, people bought a "few things" at MANY "small stores"; things are quite different now........now ALL of those people (and quite a few more as well ), buy "many more things" at ONE "great big store".......(and I'm sure you can see how well Wal-Mart is doing! )
So far, I can't think of a single reason why anyone discussing "anything" on the Chit-Chat forum is having ANY negative effect on anyone, on any of the many photography forums. I hope this helps, and thank you for your interest.
