Sold

A couple of months ago I was talking enthusiastically with the owner of the local camera store about the new Tamron lens, and he went to the trouble to find one for me without being asked to. I had not decided that I wanted it, but felt sort of obligated to go ahead and buy it because he went to the trouble and I have a good long term relationship with him. Also, I recently sold my old FD lenses and got $1500 for them, and my better half had told me that if I wanted a new lens I needed to cover the cost by selling the old ones.

Having the lens in hand I have decided that for my work a long lens is not going to be useful or practical. Maybe when I was in my 20s or 30s, maybe if wildlife photography was my main interest, but now simplify and go light are the goals.

I could return it, but would rather not do that to the camera dealer - I want to be able to ask him to special order things in the future - so I thought I would see if there is a Hogger impatient and anxious to get this lens.

We would need to arrange shipment and payment, or we will be on the road starting in a week through western Michigan down to eastern Tennessee, so if you are along that route we could meet for coffee and do the transaction in person.

Send me a pm if you are interested.

Mike

You might mention how much you'd like to get for it. Too bad it's not Nikon mount or we'd be talkin'.

I am not a motivated seller, not a seller at all, I am offering it to Hoggers as a courtesy in case there is anyone anxious to start using the lens and unable to find one. I am not trying to make anything on it.

So I guess we aren't talkin'.

:)

It sounds to me like he wants all of his money back that he paid for the lens. The Canon mount 150-600 is available and can be had "new" with warranty so it makes no sense to a potential buyer to pay for the OP's mistake the full amount he's asking. Since he's not very (in his own words) "motivated" to sell, let him keep it or maybe he'll entertain an offer. So make an offer to see how motivated he is to sell and we will see.

Wow. It is just amazing to see the nasty and uncalled for posts here.

My only "mistake" was in starting this thread in good faith and opening myself up to insults.

I explained in the first post how I came to have the lens and why I offered it to Hoggers. Many people have been anxious to get this lens and are sitting on waiting lists.

The warranty issue was brought to my attention yesterday and has been handled - a simple matter of having the store back out the sale to me and issue a new receipt to the buyer.

I also said that I was not motivated to make a sale, or "get all of my money back," since I could do that effortlessly without posting anything here, but rather because I might have been able to help someone here.

If we had a few more days I would love to buy your lens.
However I will be flying out of sf on the 16th for South Africa for three weeks.
If you can send it to me by over night shipping we could work it out.
