I got the impression 9 was the biggie...only if you had a version earlier than that might it be worth to upgrade, and only then if you intend to do the new stuff. Although last month you could buy Elements 10 from Costco or Amazon for under $50. It appears you do much better by looking for the best deal on a new purchase than by going to Adobe for an "upgrade" Their upgrade pricing appears hosed.
