VIDEO: Barbara Boxer Literally Sprints to Avoid Viagra
Article by; | Jason Mattera
Remember when California Senator Barbara Boxer suggested that Hobby Lobby and other private companies were sexist because they object to certain forms of birth control that they consider abortifacients but allegedly dont object to covering Viagra and other drugs that treat erectile dysfunction?
No, seriously, that was an analogy that Boxer actually used in a national television appearance the day the Supreme Court heard oral arguments challenging the governments contraception mandate:
I have never heard Hobby Lobby or any other corporation
complain that Viagra is covered in many insurance plans, in practically all of them, or other kinds of, you know, things for men which I wont go in to.
The comparison was so absurd that even an MSNBC (!) host interrupted Boxer to make the painfully obvious point that there arent the same moral objections to Viagra that there are to birth control, particularly those forms that are believed to induce abortion.
This is a life issue for [Hobby Lobby], MSNBCs host interjected.
Boxer was undeterred and continued to prattle on ignorantly about male bosses and Hobby Lobby.
Specious analogy aside, Boxer still had her admirers. Daily Surges own Robb the 60-year-old intern was inspired by her remarks and descended upon Washington, D.C. to solicit the help of the California Democrat.
You see, Daily Surge doesnt cover Robbs ED pills. Apparently were not alone. As Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air underscored, Viagra (and other erectile-dysfunction drugs and treatments) arent widely covered by insurance. Thats one reason why a large online market for inexpensive purchases of the drugs exist.
But Robb, like Senator Boxer, is of the opinion that bureaucrats must force companies to subsidize the sexual activity of their employees and anything less than full compliance with such a mandate is the same thing as denying access to drugs that are widely available in virtually every pharmacy in America.
Actually, Robb believes nothing of the sort (we think).
But it was fun to deploy him to D.C. anyway.
Unfortunately for Robb, Boxer was more interested in sprinting (literally) than answering a question on employer mandates and Viagra. Then there was Boxers staffer who conveniently remembered that his boss was late for a meeting just as the questions commenced.
Perhaps Boxer rushed away because she realized how embarrassing her original analogy was? Maybe shes sexist toward men? An ageist? Or could it be that shes both an ageist and a sexist?
Yikes!
Whatever the reason, our 60-year-old intern Robb is left having to foot the bill himself for the costs associated with getting his Wurlitzer to play again.
