it SHOULD say:
you are not a PROFESSIONAL photographer... you just have an overpriced camera.

Everything is overpriced isn't it? I understand that making a profit is considered almost evil but geez folks have to eat and we all want new and improved but we just hate paying for the R&D. Oh well what fun would life be if we couldn't bitch now and then. :thumbup:

Hello, Annie - There are picture takers and there are photographers. Methinks. There are so many variables to become an artist of which a photographer is one. A photographer looks at composition, lighting, posture, angles, front, center and back, before he shoots; a picture taker shoots because they like what they're shooting. A picture taker just want to memorialize the moment not thinking of the art coming out of that moment. My humble opinion.

By your definition 90% of the members here would NOT be photographers but simply picture takers.

Yepper, if you take photographs you are a photographer. There are good ones and some not so good ones, I don't understand why we get so worked up over a title or a name.

I'll never be a professional. I look at composition, lighting, posture, angles, front, center and back, before I shoot. I may not do very well but I attempt to do all these things because I want to do it well. Graham Smith and several others here are not professional and they do some wonderful things. Anyone that spends time here is a photographer, IMHO.
