But as Barbara Ehrenreich said - "I don't believe in evolution; I'm more or less convinced by the evidence. I would like to put the whole idea of faith and belief away. Let's try to find out things. ..."

As for the rest, see my sig lines.

Too right.

I would like to see religious belief becoming a quaint hobby, like stamp collecting.

I like when atheist get together, pat each other on the back while talking about religion, pointless, baseless and without any goals.

I don't believe in God, do you?
Not me man... not me.
Me either... you?
Oh, No, not me.

Whats the point of this?

It's a statement - The religious put up nonsense all the time and it goes unchallenged.

And when someone posts something that makes sense... well, we're challenged on it.

I look forward to the time when religious practice and belief is viewed as a quaint hobby, like stamp collecting or train spotting. Something that does no harm, but is essentially of interest to only a small number of people who have no great influence on society.

This is not something you should merely wish for, Gone Off Shore. There isn't much preventing you from making it an integral part of your life.

As a lapsed Unitarian, I already have.

My Unitarian Jihad name was Brother Burning Trebuchet of Balance.

All beliefs based the existence or nonexistence of a deity are a type of religion- because you can't prove either. The catalyst that began it all and why is a mystery. Theists, agnostics & atheists all belong to their respective church- which means a congregation, or meeting- a caucus.

So it boils down to whose "church" is better- an age old and tired argument which each side throws their ideas and baseless proofs at each other- and if allowed will escalate into violence- being the only way to settle it with any finality- the victor claiming they won as proof their "church" was better.

So we all believe "SOMETHING" started it, the difference is what you call that something. The only proof anybody has is that it did happen.

All beliefs based the existence or nonexistence of... (show quote)

I don't "believe" in atheism. I am an atheist. No evidence exists for the existence of deities.

There is no "church of atheism". You have made a null statement.

All you atheists don't have anything to worry about.
You will all be together soon!

Which is better?
1. live your life believing in God just to die and find out you were wrong.
2. live your life not believing just to die and find out you were wrong.
