Why is it that when I upload my photos they don't look the same? Has anyone else noticed this happening to thier photos? Thanks was just wondering.

I believe they are compressed, and that's what causes the difference.

Yes they get compressed. It's one of the reasons I use flickr to embed my photos into my posts instead of using the upload tool here on the site.

Select your photo on flickr, there is a pull down menu that says "share" top left corner of the photo. Go to "Grab the HTML/BBCode" copy that code.

On UHH, paste that code into the reply box. Hit send and boom you have embedded your picture in the thread.

One other plus is you can hit the preview button and see your pictures and not have it disappear.

Make sure you have your color space saved as sRGB.

If you are looking at your photos in PS or for that matter in most other photo editing programs or some viewing programs on your color corrected display and then........
you upload to any site (UHH, SmugMug, Picassa, etc.)and view them in Internet Explorer or most other browsers the colors are different!!!

Why?......Because IE does not color manage your view.

Check out this thread from MicroSoft at:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-desktop/how-do-i-get-srgb-images-to-display-correct-in/e59e4056-c328-45b3-9a2f-263b5ae698d8

I find that IE displays colors which are more saturated and redder.

Smug Mug's take on this phenom: http://blogs.smugmug.com/great-prints/2005/06/25/smugmug-alters-my-colors/

Must copy as BBCode.
This is a "Large" BBCode:

This is a "Medium" BBCode:

Very nice grouping of butterflys. I don't think that I have ever seen this many at one time in the wild. I hear that they migrate each year to Mexico.

The eastern ones do, generally east of the Mississippi River. The western ones (west of the River) migrate to two places, one in central Mexico and one here in California.

You should see a lot of them there in Bay City as they migrate. I had lots of butterfly bushes when I lived in Houston, College Station, Kingsville, and Corpus Christi, and there is a reason why they call them butterfly bushes!

Thanks for the information. I didn't know that they were organized into groups like that, but it makes sense. I did notice a small butterfly in our front yard the other day, but as I was in a hurry to go on a mission I didn't really pay that much attention to it. I will the next time.

Judy, they "...don't look the same..." as what? Where were they and where are they going that you are comparing?
