I found this photo from a man named Kelly in Los Angeles. It is a composition of 75 photographs. I had to share this find.
A well done composite of over 8 hours of planes leaving from 2 different runways at LAX. It is also against the rules to post photos other than your own...as I have so recently been reprimanded for....even tho credit was given.
OOPS! I guess there's two of us busted. It won't happen again.

I sorta thought that was the case, after observing quietly for a few years. Besides, there was obviously no intent to abscond with the photo; "Kelly in Los Angeles" will hold up in court as "credit." :)
Thanks donrent: my shame and guilt have subsided
Thanks Red Bear: now I won't call my attorney Monday morning

"Legal" or not, it is a genius image!
You can legally publish any photo that is used in a "news" context. I saw this photo before in a MSN news story so your OK with posting it.
It is a neat idea well done.
Gee people, all I really wanted to do was SHARE something that I thought was really really cool. I just hope over 50% of readers enjoyed!

Thanks Ted. Do you have a legal citation or reference to what you understand? I hope you are right. Kelley has this photo for sale on the PurePhoto website and it appears to be copyrighted. I would be cautious about thinking that it simply showed up on a MSN news story. Perhaps the news producers sought Mike Kelley's permission to display the photo.

I used to write for the Examiner. They sent out AP guidelines that stated that. Since it was used on MSN it became a news item. However, that would not stop the photographer from suing you for copyright infringement. Most likely you would just get a sternly worded letter and that would be the end of it.
At any rate, you put it up as an interesting photo. You did not claim it is yours so I don't see why anybody puts up an issue with it. People have been thrown off of UHH but that was after multiple violations and complaints filed. We are here to learn photography and that photo is an excellent example of compositing.

Thank you for the explanation. Good to know information. Just to set the record straight, I didn't post this photo.
