Excuse my naïveté but is there any point in looking at the EF-S 55-250 when I have a EF-S 18-200. If so, why. Thanks!!!

I don't think so. Having comparable quality lenses with significant focal length overlap seems to just cause confusion.

When the new Tamron 16-300 lens is available, I plan to trade in my kit lenses, 18-55, and 55-250. Will not have to change lenses.
