Has anyone tried it? How did you like it for speedy touch ups? How much does it cost and did/do you like it? Thanks, David

Though I do and enjoy doing candid portraiture and am an advocate of minimal post-processing, I've used Portrait Pro once on an image of a close friend which has an inordinate amount of wrinkles ... and it did soften tem up to make for an acceptable image.

More recently I used on a candid portrait of a classmate of mine, and it did indeed improve image. That's my experience.

Until recently, it was the only post-processing software I used. I use it for almost my portrait pictures, it applies "digital make-up" very well. I am philosophically opposed to the "face sculpting" feature, so after each image is initially processed, that's the first setting I turn off. In general, I use the skin smoothing, eyes, and nose/mouth sections.

I recently posted a before/after set here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-187191-3.html#3184568

If you do a lot of portrait work, it makes sense. It works very well most of the time. I don't think it is suitable for professional fashion work, but it comes really close. The adjustments have quite a bit of range in their adjustments, and the results are generally very good.

They have three levels - Basic for 8 bit jpg files, Studio for 16 bit, deep color images, and Max which adds batch processing. I just picked up Studio for $68 with a 15% promotion from Photo.net.

I also have used it and find overall it does a good job and is easy to use.

I use it from time to time and I really like it. I think it is reasonably priced for all it does. Very easy to use and you can keep your skin texture without making everything look fake.

I am not a portrait photographer but when friends asked me to do their portrait I bought Portrait Pro on sale for less than $30. I have enjoyed its speed, easiness to learn and the way it can shave off years. But some of my creations don't really look like the person I've photographed. I'd say, however, you do get your money's worth. It's fun to fool around with.

Just bought LR 5 and have not explored it extensively yet, but does it not do portrait adjustments as well. The way people talk about LR it's like it is the program that does it all. I have a strange feeling it doesn't do portraiture.

LR will make skin smoother but it will not sculpt a face like Portrait Pro. I user LR first then send the portrait to Portrait Pro for finishing touches.

You are correct. It does some very basic and simple edits. I like to use Lightroom as a replacement for in-camera image settings to optimize the image as far as all of the coarse adjustments. I leave the pixel-level editing to Photoshop and some of the high quality plugins like OneOne, Portrait Pro, Nik, Topaz and others.

I've tried it. The problem I found with it is that it renders an image that is anything but what the person looks like. In fact, it wasn't me that decided not to use it. It was people I photographed that said it didn't look anything like them.

It's probably great for professional models who all want to look alike, but for the average person, correct lighting, correct posing, and a slight bit of work in Photoshop for obvious blemishes is quite suitable.

It can do too much, but it is easy to control and get a good balance.

I think that it's a really good program. I use it for skin smoothing though it will do more.
