I didn't know they arrived this early - or maybe these are just the scouts :)
If anyone can explain the growths on beak, please let me know (males only, or just in spring, or ?)

Nice set Linda, these all look like breeding adults.

Thank you very much, howlynn. They come to this area to breed and nest, so that would explain it :)
Really nice series, Linda. Love the composition of the first shot, but the group in flight is most impressive!
Nice work.
Yep, another great set Linda. I don't have an answer on the growth thing, but it's really odd. Never seen that before.

Just beautiful Linda!!! Awesome set!

I liked them all but was intrigued by the first and last. They were in formation.

What an unusual Pelican. Crest on the head & a bump on the bill--wow, very unusual. I'm sure we have nothing like that in Oz. Well shot.

Thanks so much, Randy. I had a heck of a time getting them into that formation in #1 - lol.

Thanks, John! When there are a lot in flight like in the last shot, it's truly amazing: one minute you can see them all, and then they'll turn up-angle simultaneously and disappear right before your eyes! That was an incredible experience.
