I have known others to have problems, and they sent to Canon to be evaluated. Canon is very good about their product quality, and I would contact them directly either through e-mail or by phone. They will tell you where and how to send it.I have sent lenses, and one Rebel that was soft focusing. If there are any charges they will still be less than a repair shop. Good luck.

Have a look on the back at the base of the flash just above the hot shoe mount. There is a lever that sets the flash to "master," "slave," or "off." Make certain it is set to "off."
After several years of use, I recently had a similar problem. Apparently, for the first time in years of use, I bumped the lever away from the "off" position.

Sorry, cannot help you with flash suggestion. Not familiar with the Oolong at all and a friend has/uses the Yongnuo. He uses it strictly on manual and I know you prefer auto as do I.

I just read a really good article on Phottix Mitros flashes. Shutterbug gave it really high rating. You might check that out I am really happy with my other products from them, they say it is a full featured flash. www.OmegaBrandess.com
