Took this shot practicing subject isolation w/DOF. Turned out pretty nice IMHO. Comments?

A great subject, no doubt. Unfortunately you were a little off on the focusing, missing the intended target target. Either spot focus or manual focus is what I often do in tricky focusing situations such as this.

Would be more effective if you crop out the picket fence and blue sky.

I like the subject. Agree with comment below of cutting out the blue sky and picket fence. Although it adds interest in the other 1/2 of the frame.

Would suggest you shoot from below and out slightly to see if you could place the bracket within the corner of the window frame.

You just missed the focus on the stay..I agree with others that cropping out the fence and sky would improve the image, but not having your subject in focus is the main issue. Composition wise, it's a very good image....
