I will preface this post with this comment: I tried to find interesting things for you to check out but I've put in 52 hours so this week and honestly, I'm not altogether in this dimension and I have one more day to go so look at these simply as a "crime of opportunity". Feel free to make any changes you think might make them look more interesting, assunming I have the presence of mind to click the correct box.

Mike, I just took a quick look at these and will look at them again later. but just wanted to write a quick post to tell you that I'm impressed. I think your photos and captions really capture the feeling and flavor of your place. I think they are interesting and even intriguing, and that you have a good eye! Thank you so much for taking these photos. I like them a LOT. They make a good series.

Thank you, I truly appreciate the positive response - it gives me hope that there might be some latent talent in the brain bucket after all. I just need to work with it I guess.

I hope you will, because your dry humor captioning these interesting photos tells me a story of a difficult situation that the drought has forced you to deal with, and the photos show how you feel about it. There might be some beauty there to photograph too, in sunrises and sunsets, and in your Llamas and alpacas. in your family and your home. I'd like to see those too. But the ones you posted today have a documentary kind of artistic power to them and I think they are effective.

It's not as bleak as it might seem but most of the water rights in the county were sold off long ago and only a relatively small number of farmers are still able to irrigate.

You asked for animals. Come back soon. I just happen to have a couple.

Very interesting, enjoyable series, Mike - though I'm sorry for your challenges with drought. The shots of your cuddly alpacas are adorable.

These alpaca shots are so great, and you really have a knack for meaningful captions. I love these!

Thank you Linda, we were very fortunate with our bunch because they are kind of like many other animals in that, you get what you give. Most of the herd are friendly in a curious sort of way and the little guy called Fowler is the only one that will allow me to scratch his head. On the other hand, we also have on we call Pita, this in an acronym which I will leave to your imagination. :)

It is a great compliment indeed. My wit, hopefully a bit of wisdom and an off-the-wall sense of humor are my major tools. It's pretty apparent that award winning photographic skills aren't inherent but I haven't given up hope that learning is still an option.

Music and photography are my downtime hobbies and it's unlikely that I will give up either unless I go deaf and/or can no longer pick up a camera. It's right up there with piggy-back rides for our 5 year old daughter. Somedays she just has to wait until the Tylenol/Advil cocktail kicks in but they aren't likey to stop either.

Your humor and your photography go together very well. I will always be sure to view anything you post!!

Lucky you to have a 5 year old daughter. Mine is 46 now, and I wish we could go back in time and do it all over again. So much fun!

Thanks Ron, it the twisted sense of humor again. We really do have a State flower but those are much closer to home. They tend to get burned at every available opportunity to restrict reproduction since they are not real pleasant to step on or brush up against. We also have these lovely things called Goat Heads which are, for all intents and purposes, a seed pod with spikes attached. They go through thin soled shoes and into your foot in a heartbeat and if you don't get it all out of your foot it tends to be a gift that keeps on giving. Those are the days I really miss California.

Thank you, Photo Girl. Some days I get rally frustrated with that photos O take and how I see them but I'm using an older Compaq and EVERYTHING looks like dog poop on this thing. They tend to look a lot better on anything else. Thanks for stopping by.
