Smart or Stupid.
I have three camera batteries and two memory cards and I still would grab my camera and not have a card in it, or the battery would go dead.
I don't usually take my camera bag with me when I am just going for a walk so my extra batteries and card didn't do me any good at all.
So this is what I came up with, of course I always have my camera strap on the camera so I should be ok now, right?
I sewed little snaps on the flaps so there is no chance for them to fall out.
One pocket for the card, one for the battery.
Hi Myrna, seems smart to me. I like it. Now all the hedgehogs are going to be sending you their straps for the install! LOL!

Looks good!
As long as the attached card and battery pouches don't get in the way of camera operation, it should work out fine.
You used to could buy straps like that (for batteries and rolls of film, natch).
I like the idea but there are products on the market like this already. Here is a link to a card holder
http://gearshop.dpreview.com/OP-TECH-USA-Keeper-Leather/dp/B004N622LC Might I suggest that you replace the camera makers strap with one that doesn't broadcast a brand's name ?... Reason being is that is makes you more of a target for thieves, especially in larger cities or overseas...

Great idea, camera bags use them but have yet to see straps with them, the old film canister ones were great

Thanks for looking. I had the fabric, the machine and the time to do it and since then I haven't missed a shot.

No it doesn't get in the way any more than the strap. Thanks for looking.

Great!! And it didn't cost $17 for the pair.
I looked online but decided to save my money and make my own. Thanks for looking. Yes, almost free.

I think that yours looks much more durable, maybe you should produce a few to sell to fellow hoggers

Brings me back to the days of film used to have five film canisters on the carrying strap. This is needed today maybe you could start a cottage industry with the making of the carriers. Nice Job!!!

No it didn't, plus no tax, shipping or handling charges. Bonus. And it was in use within 20 minutes.
I too found these on Amazon also - great items to ensure we have our extra batteries and cards.
Here is an item from Fly Fishing gear than keeps my lens cloth handy also - it has a small/strong clip to secure it to a camera strap. It can be found in the fly fishing section of most Stores.
small retractable line w/clip
