We have always donated things to Goodwill but no more.

It isn't going on. I've seen the piece. None of it is true.

Did you expect Aljazeera to be truthful?

If so, I have this bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you real cheap.

Really! Here are a couple more stories that aren't from Algazeera and if you'd like to do a simple google search you can find more.

Watch the video (second link) and you'll see the interview with Goodwill's CEO, interesting.

Personally I'll continue my support of the Salvation Army.

This stuff has been true about Goodwill since forever as is most huge charities. Always check to see what amount is used for fund raising and what actually goes towards the charity they claim to be supporting.

That has nothing to do with this story and what we're talking about concerning Goodwill. Watch the video in the second link, Harry Reid has an interesting story that will shed more light on what this thread is focused on.

Enlighten us.

The CEO thinks it is all true. He justifies and defends their practices.

Whether we look at government, academia, corporations, non-profits and the NGOs, or Labor unions, the pattern is the same - the six figure salary people and the "logic" they use to justify their behavior.

How do you get a $500,000 salary? You come up with "innovative solutions" that are "market based." You get your product (or financing) donated to you, you pay workers 22 cents an hour, and you put together a marketing plan about all of the "good" you are doing to keep the money flowing in. So, the "innovative" strategies in the "market" that justify you being paid $500,00 consist of you figuring out how to extract a $500,00 salary for yourself at the expense of others.

Many conservatives and Republicans are able to see this phenomenon with crystal clarity when it comes to government, unions, and non-profits, but are blind to it happening in the corporate world. Many liberals and Democrats can see this happening in the corporate world, but are blind to it in government, unions, academia and the non-profits.

This may, and should make many conservatives uncomfortable because the logic the Goodwill executive is using to justify this is the exact same logic being used by the corporate sharks in their pursuit of personal wealth by duping the public and exploiting workers.

This may, and should make many liberals uncomfortable, because what the Goodwill is doing is exactly what most of the non-profits, environmental groups, government agencies and Labor unions are doing.

The Goodwill store in Covington, Ga., all the sudden changed owner/management?, now it looks like, when the guys from 'out of town' buys the old motels, and convenience stores. I don't think it's for putting anyone, except their extended family, to work anymore. Just my observation, on my last and final visit.

This made me feel a little sick inside. There should at least be a minimum for sub-minimum wage workers.
