How to tell a story, with camera in hand.

A fellow stopped by our local dog park yesterday, packing a high end Canon. I said something like “Nice Camera”; his reply was “If you know what you’re doing”.

It seems he was taking pictures of dog parks across America.
I stood behind him and watch as he framed up his picture. Snap and he walked away.
Never thought the base of a tree, chain link fence gate and a potta potty, told the story of out little dog park.

A photograph is worth a 1000 words..so they say. Some more, some less.

That may be true, but I know a guy who can cram a 5 minute thought into 45 minutes. He would probably do the same with a camera.

I knew one that could stretch 20 minutes of work into 8 hours.

Some people just see things that others can't, or just see them differently.

It's all in what you see, personally. Always try too look at the subject from a different angle or perspective.

I also knew someone who, when you ask them what time is was, they told you how to make a clock.

I try to look at the less obvious of what others see, because everyone else will shoot the obvious, obviously.

Yes but if he had just did a 180, he would have seen what the dog park was all about.
The trees, people talking, dog’s playing. The way the wind from the freeway moves the trees…
