Unadulterated BS. Social welfare programs, affirmative action, food stamps, AFDC, Head Start provide a vehicle for people living under the poverty line to pull themselves up and succeed. Are there abusers? Of course, in every social group you will find somebody who is abusing the system. But the vast majority do not.
ya... they elected one so he could get $hat on...haha

Mike -isn't it funny how when a poor person takes advantage of the system for their own self-interest they are somehow a scumbag but when a major international corporation hires a team of 200 tax attorneys so that they can avoid paying ANY income tax on billions of dollars of US profits, that is "just business and free enterprise"? The same Fox TV personalities that love to disparage the poor are very quick to defend corporate abuse of the system. I would suggest that abuse is abuse and it ALL should be stopped whenever possible.

Excellent observation.
Somehow, the poor are to blame for their condition while the rich are allowed to steal for their own benefit.
What is even more amazing is that the rich have been able to convince a group of folks who really have little that they deserve what they have and no more while they the rich deserve more of what those other folks have.
I was once at a party and there were 12 cookies on the table. This rich guy walked up and took 11 and then said to me and the guy standing next to me, better watch out that guy wants your cookie!

Guess you were too dumb to grab the cookies before the rich guy did - the food stamps must've held ya down.

I agree with the statements above about the "Corporate" breaks.... but by the same token I also understand that the "Corporate" folk are the ones that hire and pay wages to a whole lot of people....
AND.... just one guys observations and a very small sample, but as I wrote in a different post a bit ago... The Church where I attend and many in my small town, Have a benevolence fund which takes care of many people with many needs......... From my "PERSONAL ONLY" observations, we have a very much larger percentage of "Leeches" using our services... I personally write the checks for this Benevolence Fund and see what many do not..... As I told one of my sons... "We try to help them, but we didn't take them to raise"
AND it will ever be thus............ The rich will stay that way and to a great Degree the poor will also......I am 75 and have seen this trend for a long long time..
