I am in the market for extension tubes for my Nikon D5000 and was curious about those of you who have experience in this area. There are several makes/models to pick from and I would like to know the best way to go. Appreciate any help. Thank you.

Extension tubes are used for Macro photography or close up photography. They are used in place of purchasing expensive Macro lenses and seem to do just as well.

I have Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm Tubes for Nikon AF Digital and really like them. I use them with my Nikon 70-200 mm f2.8 VR have great working distance with them. Arnold

On eBay, I purchased a set of Kenko auto-tubes for about US$70.

Stay away from Neewer extension tubes- very cheap but do not work with my Nikon D60 as claimed. I get a "no lens attached" message and they are hard to remove. You really do get what you pay for.

I don't have a photo; however, you can Google one and find them on Ebay, Amazon, etc, where photos are shown.

A pair of PK-13s (Nikkor mount). Please note: these do not maintain lens function on DSLRs; the Kenkos, do.

Bear in mind that you do lose infinity focus with extension tubes attached as well as light loss (how much depends on the tube & the lens involved). With a true macro lens, infinity focus is maintained...

A set of extension tubes consist of a 12-mm, a 20-mm, and a 36-mm tubes. These are Kenko "auto" tubes, which preserves auto-focus and auto-aperture. These can be used individually, or in combinations.

Thank you!! I knew everyone would pitch in and help, and I was right. This site has never let me down, and I believe it doesn't have the capability to let ANYONE down. Thank you
