I recently acquired what looks like a never been used, but old Sunpak 544 handle flash that doesn't have a battery holder. I've searched online and discovered that the Sunpak 522, 544 and the 555 use the same battery holder, but no one seem to have one for sale. I've found the items to make one at Radio Shack and should receive them this week. Here's my question; inside the battery compartment there's two electrical posts on the right side. One is near the center and the other to the side. I think the positive post is the middle one and from seeing pictures of the battery holder' I think it would be easy to tell if I'm right. So if any of you have one of these flashes and could check that out for me, I would appreciate it. Thank You!

I have the 522, which used a NiCad cell or 6 AAs. On my 522, the middle contact is positive

Thanks for the quick response. That makes me feel better about connecting the power to it.
I have a Sunpak 555 flash, and AA's go into the Head of the flash. I also have an external Quantam Battery Pack that provided near endless power, as long as it was occasionally recharged. (It fits in where the AA holder fits, and VELCRO strips held the cover closed a Coiled wire connects it to the pack External Power Pack).
I priced the replacement cell a few years back, and it would have cost more for the replacement cell, than a new Quantam Powerpack unit that includes the cells! I bought the flash just before the release of the still current 622 so it's got to be at least 10 -12 years old now. I remember that Quantam was located in Long Island, New York.
