NCIS

If you saw NCIS last night, you saw a different city and three different lead characters. I've seen the same type of thing happen many times before the network introduces a new show. We have NCIS, NCIS LA, and we might be getting NCIS NOLA.

That would seem to be the case at the moment. CBS did the same thing with the immensely popular CSI, adding a Miami and a New York version of it. But you see that only the original remains. Spin-offs are a risky game sometimes, but the actors used in the NOLA version of NCIS seems to be pretty good choices with the new Spring season starting soon. Will have to see what next weeks continuation of the episode brings.

NOLA is the destination for the new series.

In a separate but related topic... I once talked to a real life NCIS agent who pretty much laughed at the show and all their high tech gear.
He said they worked out of a trailer and had a rotary dial phone.

All high tech shows are like that. How many people would tune in to watch a bunch of middle-aged unattractive men going about their dull jobs with no dramatic background music?

Thanks for that. I see that it's based on a real-life unique individual. I hope the woman stays with the show. She was good in the role.

Scott Bacula is not my favorite actor, and the "my brother" and accents could get old very quickly. It seemed to be just a bit too "down homey."

A few years ago, they filmed part of NCIS-Miami on my son's street. He lived in Long Beach, CA!

My must watch show for years now, too. But I fear the end is in sight if they don't pick up the pace of the transition of Ziva's departure and the new lady. She isn't working for me at all. Let's see...two brunettes in that role...hey, let's bring in a blonde and the NSA. Formulaic casting and writing. Boring.

I'm surprised Ziva left. Maybe she just had enough of the show. I didn't like all the complication involving her private life and background. It's not a soap opera.

Such mixed feelings may only deepen the mystery of why de Pablo left. Clearly, there was a last-minute impasse no one wants to discuss, beyond the network's insistence that money wasn't a factor. "As far as my decision to leave, that's a personal thing, and I'd rather leave it at that," she says. "The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing — at times terrifying."
