Photography and golf have a good deal in common. In the pursuit of excellence in golf, club manufacturers endlessly suggest that they have developed the magic piece of equipment that will improve your game.
Camera equipment companies hype new models with much improved abilities about every 3 months that purport to advance your efforts to new heights not seen here to for.
The brutal truth is "It's not the arrow, it's the indian".
I forgot to mention that I have multiple pieces of equipment in both areas and I still suck at both. But I have come to the conclusion that there are only just so many Phil Mickerlsons and Ansel Adams, that God intended to be.

True, but the best Indian is unlikely to hit the target with a bent arrow.
I know a superb, world class, wildlife photographer. He will knock spots off me with any gear, but his really great shots also rely on really great equipment, as well as really great skills and incredible patience.

When I retired I took up both golf and photography - I didn't have the time for either when I worked.
When I told one of my friends what I planned to do during retirement his reaction was "Boy did you win the lottery?"LoL
I also love both and suck at both but hey, ya gotta do somethin'. :D

So true. Both are loves of mine and I have often followed the sirens song of promised improvement with this or that lens, club,or technique. Both activities tease you with occasional excellent shots which raise hope that you've turned the corner.
Still, the pursuit leads me to a better understanding and appreciation of the skill and dedication of great players and photographers. Still,I suck.
When I first started really enjoying Photography my husband made a comment similar to "Gosh, That lens cost that much"!
I just looked at him and said "Yes babe, it's a lot like Golf. It seems different lenses are needed for different situations just like your golf clubs! He never has mentioned it again. LOL (Because he knows I am right)

Thank you for reminding us that Mr. Adams also used his correct hand.

You're not forgetting the bow are you? :)
I don't like to toot my own horn but... on a recent trip to Scotland, I tied Ernie El's score on the (in)famous 125 yd par 3 Postage stamp at Royal Troon. I know, some will say that an eleven is not indicative of an expert on the links, but hey, Ernie is a Hall of Famer!
