Can we do all of us a favor?

I know we are all from different places in the world, brought together by the love of photography. Sometimes we buttheads, which is unavoidable but can we do each other a favor and NOT post PMs onto the forum. I think people are forgetting that the "P" in PM stands for PRIVATE, that means the person that sent it to you thought enough of you that you would keep what they said between the two of you.

Now there are situations where PMs should be shared with the Admin (bullying and threats) and I don't have issue with posting such PMs on the forum if the offender sends multiple threats.

But posting PMs just to prove your point is tacky and childish, so let’s try to act like the adults we said we were when we joined this site.

thank you!

Dang, Annie you got me to agree with you again. What is this world coming to. Sorry to have read about your troubles. Keep the head up and your shoulders squared, That way you can kick in the groin better when needed.

I initially read this part as... Sometimes we are buttheads.

Probably works too. :-D

I completely agree with you on this. It bothers me to see people post things pasted in from PMs someone sent them. Of course, threatening PM's should go to admin.

I also think the forum would be a healthier place if people dealt with their differences more via PM instead of posting their disputes in front of everyone. It's like a fight in the junior high lunch room: everyone gathers to gawk or egg on. If it's not about photography, and is just about one-upping someone or having the last word, or who-did-what-to-who-first, we would all be better served by ignoring it, or if we must say it, do it by PM. Personal attacks really don't serve much purpose in photography.

Might it not be "sometime we butt heads"?

Once in awhile I will send a PM because what I have to say would not be of interest to most. I would never send something that I would not want to be read by everyone. (even thought it would be of no interest to them) Once you send a PM you have no control over it so just don't send stuff you think others should not read. - Dave

Yeah, but I think publicly sharing a Private Message shows no class at all. If the writer wanted it public it would have been posted public. What if someone wanted to share personal health issues with another for support? Should THAT be make public?

Thats why you do not want to send PM to someone you do not know very well. It should not be public but we have no control over what others do. - Dave

Same here! I am always shocked at how people post PMs in an attempt to prove how superior or discredit someone. No one can see the PM to see if words have been changed, if things have been deleted or even added. It's unfair and tacky at the best.

I would like to hope those that I have shared my personal email address would not post on the forum.
