Am I too sensitive or do some of you think some of our contributors can be downright rude to other contributors? Everyone is trying to learn...shame on those of you that are being rude!!

Same question from me. I actually think the opposite: the tendency is to be "too kind"....

That's what I was thinking as well.

I find it rude when a newbie ask a somewhat elementary question and receives a flippant answer which translate to "you are obviously too dumb to learn photography". Wouldn't it be better to just not respond unless you have something constructive to say?

I've never seen anyone here say such a thing. If you think the postings here are rude, I can share some of the first feedback I received on one of my images (not on this board), it would have sent many here running for the hills. I was basically told to never pick up a camera again and told I would never be anything more than a MWAC,

WOOHOOO I totally proved them wrong...

Ouch! That reminds me of a job I had-- and during a probationary period the manager essentially told me I couldn't walk without thinking about it. I passed probation and was consistently in the top two or three out of 60 employees. Never gave that jerk the time of day after that. As if, I needed motivation. Oh BTW, he had halitosis and I could always tell what he had for breakfast!

oh I still go back to that forum once a month or so to have my butt handed to me in a sling. They will tear your picture apart and tell you what is wrong with it. How do you get better if you can't see what is wrong?

I was so proud of myself the first time I got a positive remark, it was like a huge pat on the back!

I'm sensitive to a fault but no-one here has ever slammed me for a photo. Was this in the forum or did you get a PRIVATE MESSAGE ( PM ).

If it was a PM - write dirty things on a bathroom room with the persons name.

Constructive criticism is given with a smile and a hand on your arm.

Sometime when we ask for critic, we are thinking " I want them to tell me how good it is and that I did a good job", but when they actually do what we asked of them and critic and not just pet us and tell us we're great, I guess some might think of that as rude.... So if someone doesnt want the truth, then when posting a picture, just say that you want people to look at your picture and no critic is necessary...... I personally WANT people to tell me the truth, because I have found that there are some of the most talented photographers in the world here for my benefit and every remark that I am ever given, good or bad, I will learn from, and I will eventually be better than I ever thought I could be because of it........

Hopefully it was a one time thing and you stick with us. I don't think they mean to come off that way. At least I would hope not.

Actually your reply to ME was very nice and helpful but I recently watched a guy who was very rude several times to a couple of people. Only saw it once and everyone jumped in and put him in his place.

I saw it a couple of times but usually other folks jump in and tell them to back off. For the most part people are nice. But theres always that bad egg. Ignore it.

From what I have seen in just the last couple of days that I have been a member here, I don't see that as an issue. I had that issue happen to me though to great extent on the previous forum I was on. I would politely ask for c&c on some photos only to have me drug through the mud besides any photo that I posted. Then some members were even stalking me on there.

This being said, I don't see the issue on here yet. I think some are just too mad that some others are actually being polite which I would prefer as to rude or worse like what I went through.
