Saving fuel and sharing a ride in China

I saw an interesting image of commuters sharing a ride today. I decided to share it but, I briefly lost the link. So, I did a Google image search for "overloaded scooter". I found my link again but, I did not realize just how common the practice of overloading small motorbikes is in some areas of the world.

The Chinese "road toll" statistics would be interesting reading.

I just searched for China's toll roads. As you said, "interesting reading".

If I understood correctly, almost all of their "freeways" are actually toll roads originally funded by private companies (I assume for transportation of private commerce). The companies recoup their money in the form of tolls. Being unfamiliar with other countries methods of funding such infrastructure items, I don't know how unusual this is.

I also read the Communist Government failed to implement a fuel tax to fund government road projects due to lack of public support.

Funny. :). I guess you get into the thrill of the auction.

I can't buy anything at auction. I wouldn't know what was a good deal and what's not.

I worked at several government surplus auctions over the years and watched many people get caught in the fevered frenzy and pay too much. I remember seeing one mundane office item that was still available in local stores. It was in its original packaging (including a clearly marked price). It sold for more than original retail.
