I see the members photos when posting. In general, the seem predominantly male, 40 ish or older and support facial hair. Also seems to be accompanied with either a quizzical look or a big grin. Just saying ! is this a true reflection of the enthusiast photographer population at large?
No agenda on this - just curious.
All of your conclusions are in error, Chris.

All you need is a credit card. It helps if you can see.

Got something against middle aged facial haired
men that have cameras? Haa.
By the way chris, people respond better to you when
they see your photo.
They feel like they are talking to a real live person
and not just a set of numbers or letters.
Just saying, I know you have commented about that
before.
I'm female. There is a large number of males on this forum. There are a few forums that are geared toward female photographers that are hugely popular and very well received. I belong to two, I find them to both be more encouraging and more geared toward growth than ones that have a high population of males, maybe due to the male egos involved.

The first prerequisite to be a photographer is that you have to be able to spell photographer. Then you have to grow facial hair (males only, please), and then you have to pretend you are over 40. If you spend any time on UHH the grin will come naturally.

Yes on all counts, but I don't do selfies. There are many things more photogenic than me, even the dog.

I agree with the CC, but definately, being able to see is NOT a prerequisite!!

Responses made me laugh, and i need that right now
I am predominantly male, cannot spell photographer, am WAY over 40 and only sport facial hair until my morning shave. I think if you see my pictures you will know I am not a photographer either, :-D
Oh and I usually wear both a quizzical look and a grin.
LOL - my facial hair is my final rebellion after spending every morning, 5 or 6 days a week from age 15 to 62 shaving - never even a mustache. It seems that here in the Sierra Mountains a good 25 to 35% of the men have facial hair.

by the way i should say that I did not mean your post was funny. Gender should not have any affect on this or any other forum. But that discussion would generate another more none-flippant topic. I only posted this to attract amusement. Not to pose any comment on society at large or cause anyone to feel left out or self conscious.
