My name is Lyle and I am a beekeeper from Maryland and can't wait for the last snow to melt and it to warm up so I can play with my bees! I have a newer Canon T3i and enjoy using it greatly! I also still have my Minolta 3xi that is film but haven't used it in awhile! I only bought Minolta products and when shopping for an updated camera was upset that they were not around anymore. I am looking to expand my lenses for taking more in depth bee pictures and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion! Thank You!
I'm certain that heaps of folk will give you lots of advice and help from this forum Lyle very friendly place
Welcome to UHH Lyle, glad you joined up. What type of pictures do you want to take? Do you want to take macro photos of your bees? If so I would suggest a macro lens. Do not shoot Canon but for my macro shots with my Nikon D7100 I use a 105mm micro Nikkor lens. I would think that Canon would have a similar lens. You can also check out Sigma & Tamron. They would be cheaper than a Canon lens.
Enjoy the forum and post some photos.

Hi Lyle! welcome to the site. There are a lot of folks to help you here. For the lens question you will get more hits in the main photo form. But if you are thinking micro shoots of your bees. I would go with a 105 or even longer micro lens. The longer the lens the farther away you can be from your subjects. I shoot Nikon so I can't get you any of the lenses they have. But they will be close to 105mm or 200mm.

Good morning Lyle, welcome to the hog. The more you use the DSLR the less you will use your film camera. Its inevitable.
Just have fun and make some new friends here.

Greetings Lyle, and welcome to the UHH!
I'm looking forward to seeing some of your photos.
I have tried to download photos of my bees that everyone wants to see but it says they have to bee in pdf form. Never had to do photos that way so how do I do it? I am not a computer wiz! LOL!
