I'm getting a little more comfortable with the SX50 now and having fun, if not spectacular shots!

I am really interested in shooting macro/close-ups and bird shots. I found this video tutorial that provides instructions for setting up your programmable C1 and C2 modes on your camera, one for bird photography and one for macro... for any of you SX50 users that might be interested.

Fun shots, Susan. That little camera offers so much joy for such a small price :)

Thanks Geoff. I agree about having fun... except if you forget to take the lens cap off!

Thanks photophile. It was really wind that day and I was not as steady as I should have been (handheld). I love these little birds and hope to get a much better-in-focus shot.

Thanks Linda and I agree. I love my Canon 7D too, but for a quick and easy photo shoot, you just can't beat the SX50.

Your flower shot is a little overexposed, lost detail in middle...

Is that caused from being overexposed? I thought it was a little blurry because the depth of field is more limited in macro shooting and that part of the little flower was deeper and received less light than the rest of the flower. I'll have to work on this some more.

Hi, the center of the flower looks like the head of a bird, a dove.
Regards, Alfie.

PS, great set of images.

Hi Alfie and thank you. I thought the same thing about it looking like a dove when I saw it on my computer screen. It also looks like the yellow part of the flower is a baby bird in a nest and the "doves" wings enfold it. Art truly is in the eyes of the beholder. Thanks for sharing!

Great series of photos, Susan! That SX50 looks sharper than I would have thought.
