I replaced Viveza with the radial fill filter. RFF has two big advantages for me: do not have to make a tiff if starting with a raw and much more precise control of the shape, size and feathering. Just this one tool justifies buying LR5. Try it, you'll like it.
This video confirms what I had long anticipated .... the Radial Filter in LR5 is a suitable substitute for the Control Point Technology developed by NIK Software (and was probably emulated by Adobe just because it was such a good idea). I have often maintained that the best way to edit a complex photograph is to do it with a series of small, local edits so that only effect a small area, then blend them together for a total effect. The radial filter does just that. For me, it's huge advantage is the capability to control the feathering about the radial point.
Now, from an old horse that has been bred to the harness in Viveza, I will probably continue to use that tool, just because it's at the top of my workflow. However, I now have a viable alternative, and when speaking with folks who have requested assistance when they only have LR5, can point them in the right direction.
For those of you who have used both Viveza and LR5 extensively, what function equates to the "Structure" slider in Viveza?

Clarity is the closest LR relative.
I will continue to use both, but it is a fact that I find myself using Viveza less since the last version of LR was released with that wonderful radial filter, which has SO many uses. If I can save myself a trip into TIFF, I will, so I usually try the radial filter first and only dip into Viveza if I can't do what I want without it.
