Why the shiny gold backdrop?
Your focus is also way off.

thought it would look good but didn't used it before and love tie photos but not good for this and I still don't know what I am doing with this camera yet..I will feel better in a couple of day and get some of my grand kids to pose and maybe I will do better..and that backdrop has to go.

Welcome to the forum BTW......I don't want to be mean here, but I would lose the shiny background....it's distracting. Also sit on one of the chairs with your body at a slight angle facing straight into the camera, and try not to pose so much. When adjusting your focus, aim for the face Be natural (comfortable) and smile. Please take this as constructive criticism as that is how it's meant.
And again welcome to the forum.

the background you are using really isn't made to be a background, it's made to be a reflective surface to bounce light back onto your subject, it's gold to give a warm glow. Really it's a very large reflector. It's part of the reason your having issues with lighting because all the light you are putting toward your subject is bouncing back toward the camera.

It was bought to use at Christmas and I did use it behind a tree and some other stuff and it look really good but was using really soft light < Thanks I didn't think about it that way .Will try again tomorrow using my black cloth. That might work better

Shazam - Just look at the photo you said was ' a couple of months ago '

That's the natural pose you want to continue with.

Very nice shot.
