I have been playing with camera's for about 5 yrs . Until then I never had one in my hands. I started with a hp 2.3 mg pixel and became hooked. Since then I have bought several cameras but shoot mostly with Canon 400d, 450d, and now a 60d. I had to take a couple of drinks to post here, I'm more of a lurker and do read here a lot. I have found there is a lot of different people here with good advice. So help me out. These pics were taken at different times over the last 4 yrs. I guess I need to know how I'm doing.

I like # 2 and 5, 1,3,4, seem blown-out #6 is too centered for me. Welcome to UHH.

I like all of them. To me you have done a text book job with the backgrounds, colors and focus very nice. To me the flower pictures are a little blown out as if shoot in too bright of light, some of the pinks come out near white. Love the detail in the fern, hummingbird is a very nice capture. I suppose I would think about moving your subjects off center. The hummer for example may look better with more frame space in the direction of movement. Overall they are very nice, anything I or others think is mostly subjective opinions and please keep sharing.

Ok Johnny,

First one was (revised) over processed...

That wouldn't have been rum you were sipping just before coming up out of your bunker to post here was it?

2nd one was less of the first one.

A shot of good dark rum is great to get rid of back pain...

The humming bird...well, not so bad. Could have been better with flash, some cropping

Bird on the ground...ok. Could have used some flash, some cropping

However, you showed enough pictures there to suggest you might have quite a pile of good ones you ain't showing yet...

Want to dig some more out?

>?

Odd...First pass through I saw four photos...now there are six...one and three the same. Fern looked pretty good...

Humming bird looked better...

And no, I have not been sipping here!

I like them all, especially the Hummer. For my two cents you don't need a flash with that one but maybe the Mocking Bird on the ground. They all could stand a little hit with the rule of thirds. Yea, I know, another rule but give it a try and see if you like the result. Like T said give the Hummer a little room in the direction he is flying. I think it would go from a good photo to a hang it on the wall photo
My two cents

Excellent shots and glad to meet you here.

One thought and it is easy to miss.

The admin made a section in the Photo Area called Photo Analysis.

Maybe this should have started off there.

Love 'em though.

I Love the Humming bird shot, I'm not a professional but I have a love for photography that grabs my soul like nothing else ever has. I don't know all the lingo or what rule of 3's means? but... I truly enjoy UHH and I think your shots are lovely!

I will try to apply all these suggestions given and continue to learn. I thought the photo gallery was the section for C & C maybe I read it wrong. Anyway Thanks Again!!!

I'm attaching the uncropped pic of the hummer. I just didn't like the yellow feeder . I just cropped it out. Would love to know else could be done.
